Full Job Description

The AP Manager role is responsible for managing and supervising the accounts payable (AP) department and staff within that department across the UK based Group subsidiaries; Focusrite Audio Engineering Ltd, Focusrite PLC and Focusrite Group EMEA Ltd.

This role will report directly to the UK Financial Controller.

Essential functions and major responsibilities:

Purchase Ledger

  • Manages and supervises the accounts payable department and staff within that department (1 FTE).

  • Hands-on full purchase ledger maintenance across the 3 companies; raising PO's, chasing approvals, posting invoices in various currencies of various types e.g. vendor invoices, general overhead, subcontractor, employee travel reimbursements in a timely manner.

  • Oversee all payment transactions such as ACH, priority payments, prepare and process weekly BACS and bank payments.

  • Ensure relevant company financial and regulatory obligations are met efficiently.

  • Standardise relevant policies and procedures to generate efficiencies in-house.

  • Ensure that systems, policies, and procedures adhere to the Group policies while functioning with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Keep track of the company's financial liabilities and provide reports as and when requested.

  • Be active on the customer service front and be quick and accurate with communication.

  • Continuous improvement to the AP function


  • Others
  • Monitoring and maintenance of bank balances and weekly cashflow forecasts.

  • Advising UK Financial Controller to ensure sufficient cash balances to meet financial commitments.

  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Assisting with interim review and year-end audit.

  • Participate in ad hoc tasks and projects where required.

    Experience in managing Account Payable function.

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • Efficient and methodical approach with good attention to detail

  • Ability/desire to use own initiative but also know when to seek advice.

  • The ability to work to deadlines.

  • An aptitude for IT - knowledge of software packages like Excel and Word

  • Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite would be beneficial.
