Full Job Description

Blackstone's Private Capital Group is responsible for the marketing, fundraising, and ongoing investor relations in support of all of Blackstone's strategies. This Analyst role will be a part of the European Private Capital Institutional Client Relations team, working closely with ~12 other team members of varying levels of seniority to deliver a best-in-class investor relations experience to both internal and external clients. Blackstone is seeking a business development professional to support the effort to proactively develop new clients and expand relationships with sophisticated family offices, endowments and foundations across the entire Blackstone platform. The Private Capital team is looking for an analyst who is organized, detail-oriented and client centric. The key function of the role will be to support business development efforts across Europe.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist coverage lead with diligence requests from prospects - working with BU product teams, investment professionals, marketing & finance

  • Assist coverage lead with ad hoc investor requests on reporting, cash flow forecasts, deal information, and any questions/issues that come in

  • Become secondary coverage on UK & other LPs with only one coverage lead, to become additional LP resource

  • Attend meetings to help with notes & follow ups (with support of coverage lead, with aim to become key resource for LPs) and edit Indications of Interest (IOI) after client meetings

  • Proactively thinking of meetings for upcoming travel across business unit or fund launches (proposing ideas based on IOI / meeting notes / understanding of LP or prospect)

  • Attend fund launch calls, DD days, fund updates to take notes and become information resource for team

  • Work with EMEA Head & wider team on preparing data for business plans

  • Key liaison for team updates to ICS Europe COO office

  • Collating latest comments for IOI reviews

  • Working with coverage lead on briefing notes for upcoming LP/prospect meetings

  • Creating & owning sales and engagement reports to help coverage stay on track with LP engagement

  • Printing the appropriate decks for client meetings (working with marketing coordinator)

  • Ensuring team folder has latest material for each strategy available & proactively working with business unit on receiving updates to these

  • Maintaining client information in Salesforce

  • Completing suitability for new clients, monitoring when suitability expires and refreshing

  • Work with marketing coordinator on ensuring campaign lists are accurate and updated regularly

  • Assisting with follow ups post events / launch calls

    Qualified candidates will have worked in investment banking, private placements or asset management for 1+ years and have experience in institutional sales, investment banking or asset management. Candidates should also have strong commercial understanding, excellent communication skills, effective presentation abilities, and possess strong analytical skills.

    Requirements:
  • Technical ability

  • + Understanding of financial terms (proficient or basic if illustrates ability to learn quickly)
    + Understanding and comfortably explaining fund terms, investment strategy
    + Interest and understanding of macroeconomics and wider asset classes
    + Previous private market experience not required if proficient in public markets
  • Organizational skills

  • + Required to coordinate multiple teams and individuals, needs to show ability to organize across multiple stakeholders
    + Strong time management skills
    + Able to stay on top of ongoing projects in conjunction with day-to-day and ad hoc tasks
  • Personable & articulate

  • + Needs to be able to speak eloquently with LPs from outset, even if on basic content
    + Relationship management (responsive to queries, 'can-do' attitude, polite tone, etc.) comes naturally
    + Ability to articulate technical terms / concepts clearly and in a way tailored to the audience
  • Team player

  • + Required to work with multiple individuals in the team
    + Working towards group fundraising goals - needs to be a team player
    + Ability to work on multiple projects/items with different individuals
    + Able to deal with pressure/stress from different deadlines
    + Resilient, flexible, open to feedback and focused on achieving excellence
