Reporting to the Director of Capital Developments, who holds Programme Director responsibilities for the New Hospital, the Associate Director - Commercial Services will lead and optimise all commercial aspects of the Estates Capital Developments function; including procurement, contract management and managing supplier relationships to deliver successful, cost-efficient capital projects, including the delivery of the new hospital project.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with the skills to lead and manage a team of in-house and external Quantity Surveyors/Cost Managers and procurement and contact specialists, as well as collaborating across project teams.
Working as part of the multi-disciplinary approach to capital project delivery, you will provide expert knowledge, advice and guidance on all commercial matters.

Main duties of the job
As a new role to the Capital Developments Team, the postholder will be expected to create, develop and lead the Trust's approach to commissioning and take on the direct commercial management and monitoring of the Trust's estates capital programme, including both locally and nationally funded schemes.
Working with the Director of Capital Developments and the Senior Leadership Team, the post holder will ensure the effective use of available resources and build systems and procedures to enable informed decisions and robust financial planning., As commercial lead, the post holder will provide and deliver a high standard of service within the remit of their role, which will involve the provision of a full range of pre and post-contract commercial management services, and contract advice across every aspect of Capital Programme delivery.
The post holder will be the principal advisor on appropriate procurement strategy, contract selection and overseeing the management of costs for all major capital projects (from £250K to £500m) from initial inception, through to the financial close of projects to minimise the Trusts' exposure to cost risks or loss in service provision.
