Full Job Description

Come and join our wonderful team working with older people in North Somerset! An exciting opportunity has arisen in our North Somerset Later Life Therapies service for a Clinical Psychologist to provide highly specialist psychological interventions to older adult service users and families within our community and memory services.

This role is suitable for a newly - qualified psychologist and we welcome applications from final year trainees.

The post-holder work across the Later Life services to enable flexibility in addressing psychological needs in the locality. It is a varied role, offering the post-holder a wonderful environment in which to build neuropsychological assessment and psychological therapy skills. We are a flexible employer and there will be opportunities for blended site-based and home working options.

The wider North Somerset Psychological Therapies Service (PTS) team meet monthly and the later life psychology team meet weekly so there is strong peer support, which is highly valued. We also benefit from having Trainee Clinical Psychologists from the University of Bath course year-round and there are opportunities to work jointly with other psychologists in the region. All PTS staff have access to regular activities to support their ongoing professional development., This role is based at Windmill House in Clevedon, a thriving purpose-built facility that is also host to a new Mental Health Integrated Network Team. There are other clinical psychologists in the team who are ready to welcome and work alongside the new post-holder.

Our community mental health team is integrated with social care staff and has dedicated multidisciplinary clinicians. There are opportunities for consultation and training alongside direct clinical work in the form of specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention. The clinical presentations are diverse, and we are seeking a psychologist with experience of working with older people with complex mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, and physical and neurological comorbidities. Experience in CBT and systemic approaches would be beneficial as there is opportunity to run CBT groups and contribute to the family therapy service.

We are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust)a diverse organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care.

We provide services from a range of locations to approximately 1.8 million people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, across the county of Wiltshire and in parts of Dorset.
