We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Digital Forensics Investigator, responsible for undertaking forensic examinations of digital devices for use in criminal investigations. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

  • We are a unique and growing team in an exciting area of policing, conducting forensic examinations of digital devices for all types of criminal investigations.

  • The Digital Forensic Unit consists of a main laboratory based out of Pontprennau in Cardiff with mobile phone examination capabilities within our stations in Cardiff Bay, Merthyr, Bridgend and Swansea.


  • About the role and your key responsibilities:

  • The role will be based at our Pontprennau offices, with opportunities to attend overt and covert operations across the force area and also nationwide.

  • The role will include the forensic examination of computers, mobile phones, data storage devices and other digital media across all investigation types.

  • The work undertaken within the Unit is accredited to ISO 17025 / 17020 standards as required by the Forensic Science Regulator for all forensic activities (See FSR Code of Practice, ISO17025:2017, ILAC G19), with work inspected by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

    Knowledge and experience in digital forensic practices including imaging, data processing and analysis.

  • Structured report writing and the ability to explain technical findings in a simple way will be a key requirement of the role in taking forensic evidence into a court or jury led process.

  • Experience working within an ISO controlled environment would be advantageous.

  • This role is for part time/job share workers

    The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
