Full Job Description

Avantor is looking for a Scientific Samples Dispatch Technician - Driver, to join the team based in Cambridge, UK. In this position you'll support daily movements of samples around the Bio-Medical Campus and, the day-to-day operations of the Sample Dispatch facilities.,

  • Supporting the day to day planning, scheduling, coordination of sample collection requests and delivery around the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, using internal van

  • Dispatching goods ensuring all relevant documentation and labelling is correct and meets IATA/ADR/IMDG, Health and Safety, CLP (GHS) and customs standards

  • Managing all stock required for samples dispatch activities and pro-active shipments tracking and investigate any missing shipments or shipments errors

  • Acting as a key point of contact for all research staff to deal with queries pertaining to dispatch of samples

  • Basic vehicle maintenance, safety inspections and MOT/service tracking

  • Education: GCSE or equivalent secondary school qualification

  • Qualifications: Valid UK driving license is essential

  • Experience:


  • Previous experience in a driver/courier-based role is advantageous

  • Experience with shipping dangerous goods or scientific goods preferable

  • Knowledge of IATA/ADR/IMDG and understanding of CLP, GHS and REACH regulations

  • Experience of country specific import preferable

  • Proficient in data capture, analysis and reporting utilising various IT systems, especially Excel

    This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge.   • Due to responsibilities of the role, we only will be considering candidates with valid driving license.
    Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 - 16:00

    You'll join a close-knit team of 7 Logistics Technicians. You'll belong to our business department Lab and Product Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
