Full Job Description

The successful applicant will be involved with consultations with clients on and occasionally off site, working with them to optimise the LGSF solutions alongside the Design Manager.

Being a SME business, the role will also require some general administration and office support as required. In addition, the role requires the successful candidate to raise timely material / technical P.O.'s and co-ordinate sub-contractors to meet the fabrication of projects.,

  • Estimating; liaising with U-Roof's LGSF structural Engineer and the internal design team

  • Produce detailed quotes from client's drawings.

  • Procurement of subcontractors and material supplies.

  • Maintain database of purchase prices for pricing budgets and alternate product sourcing

  • Formulate budgets from the quotation for the internal teams.

  • Professionally represent the company in client and client consultants' meetings (Architects / Structural Engineers)

  • Occasional Client visits

  • Post job cost analysis.

  • Some general office administration and support as required.

    A light gauge steel frame (LGSF) Estimator is required for a growing and successful company. A knowledge of the construction industry is essential, preferably in Light Gauge Steel Frame.


  • Reporting to the and working in close consultation with the design manager, this is a great opportunity to join a family run company which is experiencing rapid growth across a number of sectors within the construction industry.

    The successful applicant will ideally come from a construction/structural/ LGSF/timber background and the candidate should have a minimum of 3 years' experience in estimating within the industry.

    The Estimator's role will involve the detailed and accurate interpretation of customers drawings ranging from architectural and planning drawings to simpler sketches requiring quotation. Attention to detail is essential and an ability to communicate both internally and externally to ensure all elements are covered accurately within the quote to meet the client's specific requirements.

    The role will involve working both autonomously, but also in consultation with the team regarding technical solutions, prioritisation and commercial decision making. The ability to liaise professionally and confidently with clients will be a distinct advantage. Precise handovers to the design team will be required.,
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to work to deadlines and under time pressure to meet customer service targets.

  • Strong negotiation skills are an advantage and broader commercial awareness.

  • Professional conduct and good communication skills at all levels

  • Experience in purchasing would also be advantageous.

  • An ability to develop the estimating system would be a bonus.
