Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our Rail team to work in either Sandiacre or London, with a combination of remote working

Role Purpose:

  • To take full responsibility for providing professional financial support, challenge and control to allocated group of projects Be an integral part of the Senior Project and Finance Teams to ensure that the projects meet and beat its financial targets within group policy.


  • What you'll be doing

    As a Finance Manager you will:
  • Lead finance partnering input as part of the Management Team on the Projects and part of the Senior Delivery Unit Finance Team;

  • Prepare and report monthly management accounts.

  • Ensure the timely provision of resource for all Finance and Administration activities on the Projects;

  • Chair monthly Finance reviews with Commercial Lead (CL) and Heads of Contract (HC) to challenge the financial position reported;

  • Ensure that Project Administration team is fit for purpose across Projects;

  • Provide input into project establishment and set up as required;

  • Ensure Project Delegated Authorities are maintained in line with Group and Division guidelines and are maintained up to date;

  • Promote the Project Health & Safety strategy;

  • Support the head of operational finance in developing the finance project partnering role, and developing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;

  • Ensure effective controls are in place and that project risk/opportunity is accurately reported;

  • Manage compliance with processes and ensure quality standards are maintained across the team.


  • Who we're looking for

    Personal Qualities and Experience:
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of all financial information in line with company standards and guidelines to ensure that all financial project targets are met;

  • Provide challenge to the project team reported results and commentary supporting these numbers each month in line with group policy;

  • Produce budgets and forecasts to Delivery Unit Finance in collaboration with the HC & CM;

  • Support the HC & CL in a. All forecasts & projections b. Managing Claim & Change c. Managing and reporting the project CTC position d. Client relationship (as required & directed);

  • Support the Commercial Team to ensure that we actively manage and report claim and change 6. Ensure we have robust CTC review process is in place;

  • Establish effective Project Administration Team to implement and operate Project Administration processes. Develop and manage the team effectively, ensuring appropriate controls are in place;

  • Drive cost control (and ownership) and cash/working capital management on the project;

  • Liaise with internal and external audit as required;

  • gn: justify;">Manage any client audit requirements effectively (to maximise cost and value recovery);

  • Ensure the finance service delivered meets all internal and external stakeholder needs and requirements.
