Full Job Description

This Health and Safety Advisor role will be predominately site based, working with a multiple trade team who will deliver, Scaffolding, Mechanical Fabrication and Installation, Thermal Insulation and Painting services to a client based within the Petrochemical Industry. The role is required to progress his/her identified job tasks in a diligent and efficient way as directed by the Site Manager and Regional HSE Manager. The role will be required to provide support to other Bilfinger Operational sites located within the West Region portfolio.
The role will work closely with the Bilfinger HSE team and Client HSE team to ensure high standards and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards implemented on site.,

  • Engaging with and developing relationships with Client HSE personnel.

  • Being an active and visible member of the team by spending time on site engaging in audit and inspection processes and interacting with site personnel and client HSE Advisors.

  • Provide support to the Bilfinger UK Operations team to ensure all hazards associated with the site activities are identified, that risks to health, safety and the environment are assessed, and that suitable control measures are implemented and complied with.

  • Ensure the Company management system is adhered to.

  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are investigated and recorded within the 'Active' HSEQ reporting system, root cause analysis is completed and that suitable actions are assigned to mitigate future events occurring.

  • Disseminate HSE information to the site work team.

  • Give guidance and advice on matters relating to HSE systems and initiatives within Bilfinger UK.

  • Conduct HSE inspections and audits on site(s), with additional support provided to other south region sites when necessary.

  • Assist with the promoting and monitoring of compliance with HSE performance leading and lagging indicators.

  • Develop and contribute towards the continual improvement of the HSE culture and delivery of the 'Safety Works' programme.

  • Deliver onsite HSE inductions and training as required.

  • Develop and deliver toolbox talks with the site team.

  • Co-ordinate site training both internally and externally

  • Populate 'Active' HSEQ reporting systems with site based safety, process safety and environmental observations, audits, investigations etc.

  • Assist the operations team with the timely close out of Corrective Actions arising from investigations, site inspections and audits.

  • Develop and roll out Bilfinger UK and site-based client HSE Initiatives.

  • Ensure all hazardous substances used by Bilfinger UK are subject to a risk assessment and COSHH assessment and the company Sypol system is maintained, understood and implemented.

  • Deliver on site mentoring and coaching when required.

  • Provide guidance and support on HSE matters to on-site personnel and Management.

  • Ensure all HSE related concerns are reported and actively followed up with the Operational Management on site.

  • Act as the company's HSE representative at contractor and customer meetings and participate as required.

  • Provide health and safety support to maintenance activities, projects and shutdowns.
