Full Job Description

As a Product Analyst in our Product Team, you'll take a leading role in ensuring our Products are delivering meaningful value for our customers and business stakeholders.

You'll be owning and leading the delivery of roadmap items across either a product area or enterprise change project; ensuring that we are building the right things in the right way.

Working closely with the Head of Product and Product Managers to ensure strategic alignment with the Product Roadmap.

You'll commonly undertake the role of either Lead Analyst on project size change items, or the role of Product Owner within delivery squads, owning and managing a product backlog.

Day-to-day, you will be working in close partnership with other Product Analysts, and Product Managers to help elicit requirements from business stakeholders in the form of epics and user stories, and working with Technical Leads, UX Designers using their domain knowledge, to design and deliver on the requirements at hand.

When working as a Lead Analyst on a project, you'll be embedded within the project team, capturing business requirements, performing business and systems analysis, supporting Systems Architects to design solutions, helping build test strategies and analysing issues.

When working as a Product Owner you'll be embedded within a squad, owning, managing, and prioritising the delivery of product features, services and enhancements, documenting requirements, and rallying the team around the product backlog.

You'll be responsible for improving customer journeys and experience across the products, to create the leading platform in the self-directed investing market, working as the link between the business and IT delivery.

The role will have flexibility and you will be required to work across various channels and systems depending on business requirements, working with SME's and stakeholders to build a strong knowledge of our business and technical ecosystems, along with taking a data lead approach to owning the outcome.

Whilst you'll be a specialist in the Product Analysis space, you'll have the opportunity to act in other roles and support the teams in other ways, taking on the likes of testing and light project management, working closely with the Heads of Digital Product and other Product Managers to ensure that the vision, KPI's and direction are correct.,

  • Work closely with the Product Managers and Technical Leads to influence and ensure we are maintaining the correct direction and delivering to plan

  • Work with the Product Managers, Technical Leads, business stakeholders and other key individuals to define and document the initial ask for new change requests in the form of requirements catalogues, epics, user stories and other means, including both functional and non-functional requirements

  • Take the lead product analyst role on large roadmap items that form projects as well as enterprise change projects, taking on both business and systems analysis duties and following standard project governance processes and documentation.


  • Work with Project Managers to help build out project plans and work with Product Managers and UX to help define customer journeys
  • Carry out detailed analysis of the business needs, requirements, impact, scope, risks, benefits, and technical dependencies

  • Own the analysis process for your product or project workstream including, the authoring of good quality user stories, which will contain, business requirements, API integration points, data and data mapping, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements

  • Help architects shape requirements solutions and work with the test team to build out test strategies

  • When working within a product workstream environment, align your product backlog with strategic roadmaps taking the lead from Product Managers or other business owners.

  • Work closely with the scrum masters and delivery leads to set the vision for, prioritise, and refine your product backlogs

  • Play an active role in all Product ceremonies

  • Use Objectives and KPIs to measure product performance and identified learnings of the changes you're working on working closely with the Data team and Product Managers to ensure that we're moving the business forwards

  • Evidence using different tools and techniques to support product prioritisation an evaluate prioritisation decisions, effectively communicating them with stakeholders

  • Demonstrate a user centred approach by working with research areas and using data sources to understand customer behaviour

  • Work collaboratively with the UX designers to provide an understanding of the user stories, to ensure designs are aligned and create seamless, usable, and accessible user journeys

  • Provide business and technical answers to any questions or information required by the squads or projects in a timely manner

  • Work collaboratively with SMEs to define the problem space including any security or regulatory considerations.

  • Become the delivery teams SME on key processes, applications, and platforms. Rapidly gain the knowledge to become the focal point for any technical / business analysis that the squad needs

  • Ensure business readiness of changes being delivered, including business process mapping and customer service training

  • Demonstrate new functionality or change impacts to key stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of upcoming changes and gather feedback which can be used to inform future decision making

  • Use product and platform subject matter expertise to confidently provide analysis and support for live issues and incidents, working with other support teams towards a speedy resolution

  • Support Product Managers during discovery work, providing elements of the technology context to help build business justification cases for new opportunities, including contributing to any assessment of potential 3rd party solution providers

    Experience working as part of a multi discipline team working with members from UX, analysis and engineering, demonstrating high impact performance of initiatives

  • Competent knowledge of change methodologies and frameworks and works autonomously

  • Experience working in both Offline and Online customer journeys

  • Has worked across a vast range of products that get used by in-house users and customers.

  • A competent communicator across all channels and finds the best form of communication for the task

  • Has a bias to action does not hide behind their desk and gets out and about across the business. You take it on yourself to ensure that the right things get done.

  • Pro-active, personable, and social can forge relationships with colleagues both within the office and those across other offices

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and applicable experience

  • Can demonstrate a user centred approach and can demonstrate that the right balance is made between building the right thing, building it right and building it fast enough

  • Proven ability to analyse systems from a business and technical perspective and document any processes.

  • Demonstratable ability to seek out and find the information needed to support the goals of the team, irrespective of whether they have any applicable background of prior knowledge of the problem space or platform.

  • Ability to write concise and detailed user stories with acceptance criteria

  • Previous experience of collaborating with or within an agile / scrum team

  • Ability to prioritise work effectively

  • Facilitates quick decision making and is decisive in making decisions

  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Highly organised with a great attention to detail

  • Ability to discuss and explain complex issues to all levels

  • A strong knowledge of software development processes and procedures, including BDD, TDD principles and continuous integration and web / mobile technologies.
