Full Job Description

General Overview:

Provision of various duties including:

  • Gatehouse duties:

  • + Meeting and greeting visitors to site.
    + Issuing passes.
    + Issuing keys to authorised personnel. Booking visitors onto client's visitor management system
    +
  • Carrying out duties in accordance with fire legislation including assisting with fire audibility tests and evacuations (including fire drills).

  • Responding to incidents, including emergencies as and when requested.

  • Security patrols when required.

  • Reporting of all incidents to duty Shift Controller / Security Supervisor.

  • Reports to duty Shift Controller throughout each shift.


  • Shift Patterns:
  • All shifts are 12 hours duration.

  • Four on, four off days and nights.

  • Officers are required to be available to work weekends and bank holidays.

  • An average 42 hours per week are guaranteed, however more hours are regularly available.


  • Impact:

    The officer must liaise with the Security Supervisor, the client's personnel at all levels and the emergency services as and when required. Must be smart and well presented at all times. Uniform is provided.

    Complexity:

    Due to the complexity and comprehensive knowledge required of the site's policies & procedures, this role will suit an experienced Security Gatehouse Officer.

  • Security Industry Association (SIA) frontline licence.

  • Full UK manual driving licence.

  • Minimum of Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.

  • Experience of working in a busy security gatehouse / reception.

  • Should be physically fit.

  • Excellent people and customer service skills.

  • Able to develop excellent working relationships with both colleagues, clients and visitors.

  • Good communication skills, spoken English, legible handwriting and telephone manner.

  • Must be able to accurately input data on IT systems.

  • Good organisational skills are required.
