An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Director to support the existing team in the management and growth of the Planning and Environment Impact Assessment team.
You will join our friendly team at a highly regarded company dealing with an impressive range of projects. Our office is conveniently located for motorway access, and train travel, and there will be some flexibility in regard to home working.
Candidates should be ambitious and enthusiastic with a strong track record working on medium / large scale planning projects ideally including renewable energy, waste, industrial and commercial and major infrastructure. We have an exciting pipeline of projects, particularly in renewable energy, including solar, battery and wind technologies.
This position is aimed at an experienced professional with consultancy experience capable of managing a small team of town planners and EIA specialists working within a multi-disciplinary environment. You will join the Planning and Environment Team at a company dealing with an impressive range of projects including major infrastructure, waste and energy, minerals and strategic housing.

As a Technical Director your duties will include:

  • Project managing a broad mix of planning and EIA submissions

  • Provide direction and support to the planning team on projects from inception to completion

  • Contribute to the growth and development of the firm wide planning and EIA team;

  • Appraisal of new development opportunities and liaison with clients

  • Engaging with a wide range of professionals within both public and private sectors

  • Advising team colleagues on planning procedural changes and implications

  • Managing budgets and fees on projects including preparation of proposals

  • Working with a wide range of clients, managing expectations and meeting deadlines

  • Maintaining a good understanding of policies relating to commercial, infrastructure, residential and minerals schemes,

  • Proactively seeking to develop new client relationships including seeking opportunities for cross-selling;

  • Helping to mentor junior staff members to facilitate career advancement

  • You:
    As the successful candidate you will:
  • Be a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) or EIA Specialist (CEnv or MIEMA)

    Have experience in private sector

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the EIA process

  • Have excellent analytical and written skills

  • Have a strong team working ethic

  • Be IT literate in Microsoft Office

  • Hold strong planning and organisation skills

  • As we work throughout the UK, a full driving licence is essential
