Volunteers are based in a wide variety of different settings across Sheffield, which include, Woodland View Care home-Norton, Birch Avenue Chapeltown, Grenoside Grange-Grenoside, Michael Carlisle -Nether Edge, Longley Centre- Firth Park.
Our Voluntary Services Team will provide comprehensive training and support, to help you provide the best service possible and get the most out of your volunteering. Through regular contact, we will ensure you are happy in your role and have opportunities to develop. Some of our volunteer's progress to employment with the Trust. On joining, you will automatically become a member of the Trust. We encourage all volunteers to participate in the Trust's activities.
You must be aged 18 or above; there is no upper age limit for applications. We do not ask for formal qualifications - simply that you are friendly, caring, approachable and reliable. You must be willing to commit to volunteer with us for at least 3 hours a week for 6 months and undergo the relevant recruitment checks and mandatory training. Before you can take up a volunteer role shortlisted applicants are invited to an Information Briefing Session. If successful through this process all volunteers complete the Trust's mandatory training and any role specific training that is required. The team also carry out required clearances including references, Occupational Health Check and DBS check., We offer a variety of volunteer roles. All are non-clinical and complement the work of our paid staff. The roles include Gardening, helping to collect feedback from our service users on the wards, Reading Aloud to patients on our Acute Wards, supporting our activity co-ordinators on both the Acute Wards, and also within our care homes for older adults living with Dementia.
We would welcome volunteers with lots of different skills including Arts and crafts, baking, singing, dancing.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children and as part of our safe recruitment practice the successful applicant(s) will be subject to a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) if it is deemed appropriate for the role. The cost of the DBS check (currently up to £48.23) must be met by the successful applicant(s).
