Accountant

The entry role is a simple one, bookkeeping, (Xero) VAT returns, payroll for 4 staff, training support staff. Small business (£300k t/o) that needs only one day per week at the moment. However, the role will lead to a much more responsible one when candidate is ready. This role is for the remote financial accounts for our group busineses (£6m t/o)

Please see below extra responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Provide financial support and guidance to management on business decisions
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations
- Mentor and train junior staff members in financial accounting practices

Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, PeopleSoft, etc.
- Strong knowledge of financial services industry and financial management principles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes and procedures,

• A-Level or equivalent (preferred), accounting: 3 years (required)
