Full Job Description

We are looking for a highly capable Consultant Clinical Psychologist to join our team and help lead psychological input to our acute care services in Boston (inpatient and Crisis Team). The postholder will also be required to offer staff consultation/ supervision support to the Psychiatric Clinical Decisions Unit (PCDU) & Mental Health Urgent Assessment Centre (MHUAC) which are based in Lincoln. The postholder will, as required, deputise for the Head of Inpatient and Urgent Care Psychology Service and take the lead in managing psychologists working at Ward 12, Boston, and Louth CRHT.

This is an exciting and challenging leadership role that will afford the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of a supportive psychology department that is focused on delivering high standards of care through evidence based practice.

To provide highly specialised and expert psychological services directly to clients with complex psychological issues relating to acute distress, psychosis, mood disorder, and complex trauma / personality disorder (vulnerable and emotional adults referred to the services).

To provide specialist consultation and highly expert advice to staff across the organisation and to partner agencies

To lead the psychology provision for the LPFT acute care pathway - inpatient wards, PCDU/ MHUAC and Crisis teams.

To take the lead in setting the standards of clinical work and the direction of service development in the service and across the organisation to achieve our vision in transforming acute and urgent care.

To develop the scope and breadth of the service as circumstances permit.

To provide support to the psychologists, trainee psychologists, and assistant psychologists working in the service countywide

To provide expert and highly specialist psychological related advice to committees/projects/working groups of the Trust as required.

To develop training packages and support the clinical team to deliver these packages across the organisation in all divisions and across the multi-agency

To represent the service in relationships with other agencies and care providers

To ensure the provision of specialist clinical and line management and support to staff working in the acute and urgent care services, including recruitment of staff

A post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Forensic psychology (or its equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of two or more distinct therapies.

Substantial experience of working as a qualified clinical or forensic psychologist in challenging environments

Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings

Substantial experience of working as a clinical or forensic psychologist with vulnerable adults who suffer from mental health issues

Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment

Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
