Full Job Description

To customize the control loop design and parameters to allow implementation of a set of new motors in robotics products to desired level of motion control performance and validate with appropriate testing.,

  • To understand the current product motion accuracy and repeatability for X, Y and Z directions for the product.

  • To define a set of test criteria to allow validation of new motor performance.

  • To undertake design and development of PID control loop for new motors applied in drive, steer and height control.

  • Validate the final solution against test criteria set.

  • Complete production release of software and training of others as required.

  • Experience of design and development of robotic PID motion control systems using brushless DC servo motors

  • Experience of developing production-standard embedded software systems using C++

  • Experience of developing production-standard software using BASIC

  • Experience with Raspberry Pi

  • Able to work to tight deadlines, keep adequate records and maintain test documentation.

  • Builds good relationships with other engineers and with suppliers

  • Desirable:
  • Experience with Copley amplifiers for controlling brushless DC servo motors

  • Experience of analysis and modelling of robotic systems using Matlab or similar., Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline
