Delivery Driver / Warehouse Operative

To deliver plastic and aluminium building product consignments to various locations in a timely manner and normally within the Home Counties area from our depot in Sutton, Surrey.

Basic Duties:

• Securely load vehicle, assess route and access, keep in contact with customer and office as to ETA's



• Deliver items by identifying destinations; establishing route; operating the van; unloading items; maintaining schedule.



• Carry out duties in the warehouse as and when required to include loading and off loading and working as a team.



• Help maintain van operating efficiency by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; reporting malfunctions.



• Maintain safe operation and clean appearance by complying with operational policies, procedures, and standards, as well as driving rules and regulations; cleans van exterior and interior.



• Maintain delivery, van, and driving records by obtaining receipt acknowledgments; recording tracking information; completing driver log and van performance forms. Occasional use of computer system



• Update job knowledge by participating in training opportunities.



• Enhance organisations reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  
  This job will involve manual handling and lifting of items that aren't particularly heavy but of awkward sizes.


The right candidate will have skills in the following:-

Verbal & written communications

Working as part of a team

General location knowledge

Travel logistics and scheduling

Driving 7 metre flat bed vehicles

Focus on customer service

Deadline orientated

General knowledge of building materials (although not essential)

Basic computer skills (although not essential)

In addition, the right candidate will have full vision, be physically fit and hold a current full and clean driving license.
