Full Job Description

A personal assistant is required to support a young man in their home and local community.
This is a fulfilling role where the PA will support the employer as they socialise. Providing companionship and assisting them in developing daily routines, building confidence and encouraging independence.
This position would suit a supportive and patient individual with good communication skills and the ability to motivate.
The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable the individual to manage their support independently. Training can be provided as required and where available. You must have your own transport and a full driving licence as you will be required to transport them to and from venues.

Main Duties:

  • To accompany the service user to and from locations

  • To assist developing daily routines

  • To help develop confidence accessing the local community

  • Promote and support socialisation

  • Provide support and encouragement with engagement in personal interest

  • To help developing independence, and daily routines

  • Ensure the service users safety at all times during your working period.

    If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
    Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
    You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
    You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
