Full Job Description

Stopford have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Civil & Structural Engineer to join the team to
work on interesting and innovative projects with highly skilled professionals who are constantly

The position of Graduate Civil & Structural Engineer is part of the Projects group and is a full time,
permanent position. Your time will primarily be based at our office at Knutsford with occasional
visits to attend site surveys when required.

Reporting to the Lead Civil and Structural Engineer, the Graduate Civil and Structural Engineer will
produce civil and structural engineering designs and assist in the production of drawings.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop detailed designs with supervision.

  • Produce calculations, drawings and design documentation.

  • Participate in and contribute to design reviews.

  • Assess the environmental impact and risks connected to projects.

  • Analyse survey, mapping and materials testing data with computer modelling software.

  • Prepare and issue drawings with supervision in line with project schedules and in accordance


  • with Stopford SOPs.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines as and when required.

  • produce Civil and Structural engineering designs and assist in the production of drawings. The Lead
    and Senior C&S Engineers will provide close mentoring to develop skills in accordance with ICE /
    IStructE objectives and business needs., As a Graduate Civil and Structural Engineer, you will:

  • Review
    The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as
    necessitated by your role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the
    organisation.

    To be successful in the role of Graduate Civil & Structural Engineer you will have a degree in a
    relevant engineering discipline and be prepared to work towards chartered status. Ideally you will
    have some experience of working in a design and engineering environment, with experience in civil
    and structural engineering industrial projects and a good working knowledge of design codes and
    standards relating to civil and structural engineering. In addition, you will have knowledge of
    applicable Eurocodes for various material types, have knowledge and experience of 2D and 3D
    analytical packages such as STAAD, TSD and TEDDS or demonstrate ability to learn these
    packages. Ability to work in AutoCAD and Revit would be an advantage.,
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Be prepared to work towards chartered status.

  • Ideally has some experience in a design and engineering environment, preferably with


  • post graduate experience in civil and structural engineering industrial projects and a
    good working knowledge of design codes and standards relating to civil and structural
    engineering.

  • Knowledge of applicable Eurocodes for various material types.

  • Knowledge and experience of 2D and 3D analytical packages such as, STAAD, TSD and


  • TEDDS or demonstrate ability to learn these packages.
  • Ability to work in AutoCAD and Revit will be prioritised.

  • Working knowledge of Office 365 including One Drive and Sharepoint with proficient


  • use of Word and Excel.
