Full Job Description

The HR Trustee would guide the leadership team in terms of current HR legal requirements and best practices. The HR Trustee would also provide people updates to the Trustees via the Trustee meetings.

What will you be doing?

Sport in Mind Trustee, HR specialist

Sport in Mind's mission is to improve the health and well-being of people experiencing mental health problems through sport and physical activity.

Our charity delivers supported sport and physical activity sessions to people with mental health problems.

HR Trustee.

The charity has internal groups of trustees, leadership employees, staff and volunteers. The HR Trustee would guide the leadership team in terms of current HR legal requirements and best practices. The HR Trustee would also provide people updates to the Trustees via the Trustee meetings.

Where

The office is based in Reading but most trustee meetings are held remotely.

Time

Either in or out of office hours Estimate of time needed:Attend Trustee Board meeting once every two months, normally early evening. Review documents and provide advice and guidance in between, approx. 1- 2 days per month on average.

What will you be doing?

Joining a small team of Trustee Board members, you would be the HR specialist to provide expertise in Board discussions and provide advice and support to the operational team as and when needed. This is a growing and developing charity where advice and expertise from specialists is valuable to ensure that optimal processes and systems can be put in place that will enable growth and ensure efficient use of resources. The HR role is key to our team as the charity grows and develops and the person will work on a pro bono basis with other Trustee Board members who each have specialist skills. This is an opportunity to contribute as a Board member and to give some time to a charity that has won awards for the work it is doing in supporting people with mental health problems, through the delivery of sports and physical activity sessions in the South of England and onward. No set hours are required, though the Trustee is expected to attend Board meetings
on a bi-monthly basis (may be remotely) and provide a range of advice and guidance in between., The role of HR Trustee is essential to the proper operation of the Trustee Board and the charity as a whole.

A minimum of 3 years experience in HR preferably with a relevant qualification or professional association.

The HR Trustee should be aware of both current best practices in HR and legal guidance and impact.

The ideal candidate would be a team player with strong communication skills. A willingness to get involved and an ability to research and consult independently are a must.
