Full Job Description

The M40 motorway is just over 123 km long linking London M25 with Birmingham. The contract is for routine maintenance and incident response.

Operatives will be expected to undertake other tasks for which they are suitably trained when working night shifts. You will be paid based on an average 42-hour working week.

Optional overtime is available
You will be working as part of the Landscape and Ecology team carrying out essential maintenance works, including but not limited to, Reporting to the Team Leader or Foreman any hazards on site.

Care for own Health & Safety and that of fellow workers.

Grass cutting and strimming.
Tree felling.
Hedgerow clearance.
Ditch clearance.
Pond management.
Use of pesticides.

All staff must behave professionally at all times. Health and Safety is an integral part of Egis and thus machinery and equipment must be kept in good working condition and any faults reported as per Company policy.

Ensure daily driver checks are undertaken on any vehicle before commencing network activity
Complete appropriate paperwork relative to the task and ensure that the records are passed onto your Team Leader.
Keep lorries and vans clean and tidy
Ensure that PPE is kept clean and in good condition
Ensure that near misses and hazards are reported promptly.

Actively participate in briefings and training to enable all duties to be carried out safely and sustainably. You must attend all training arranged for you by the Company.
Actively participate in encouraging a positive attitude towards health, safety, and the environment.

  • You will be required to work a 42-hour week.

  • Working hours would be Monday - Thursday 07:00 - 16:00 and Friday 07:00 - 15:30 with occasional night work as and when required.
  • You will receive 26 days holiday per year as well as bank holidays.

  • The hourly wage is £13.67.

  • There is an additional £100 per week when working on a standby rota for emergency tree works.

  • PPE will be provided.

  • You will be entered into the company pension scheme.
