Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Chelmsford City Centre site.
Hours of work
45 hours a week, between 0700 - 1700 Monday to Friday.
Out of hours and weekend on call rota.
Purpose of the role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role as part of the maintenance team ensures preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the mill plants, in a safe and efficient manner, to reduce operational downtime; to maximise efficiency.
Duties
- Working as part of the team to deliver the planned preventative maintenance schedule effectively, on time & within budget.
- Responsible for pumps, gearboxes and pneumatics.
- Fabrication - guarding and material ducting (spouting).
- Installing new machines; fault finding on machinery.
- Routine machine maintenance - inspections, greasing, checking belts and oil changes.
- Rapid response for breakdowns, to ensure downtime on production and packaging lines is reduced.
- Welding - repairs, making brackets, pipe work.
- General maintenance around site - production, warehouse and office areas.
- On-call cover for the plant, responding to emergency breakdowns.
- Maintaining accurate records on production maintenance software, to ensure compliance and ensure safe working environment.
- Complying with all company Health and Safety and hygiene rules
- Adhering to all company Health & Safety and hygiene rules
Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude - Educated to at least City and Guilds/ B Tech/ NVQ 3 (unless have extensive practical experience) / completed mechanical apprenticeship
- Driving licence
- Ideally experience of a food manufacturing environment / supporting continuous processes
- Minimum 3 years' experience in fabrication or industrial maintenance or installations.

Other Information
Due to this role requiring the post holder to attend site as part of a call-out rota, across 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, it is preferable but not essential to live within a 30-minute travel distance of Chelmsford, and to have access to own vehicle.
