Full Job Description

As an apprentice, you will work with the Operations team delivering operational services, support and controls. The department is at a pivotal point in its strategy where we are looking to adapt and leverage technology, data and analytics to optimise processes and drive innovation and continuous improvement.

During your programme you will have the opportunity to spend a couple of months working with the Claims team to develop your knowledge of the function and how Operations and Claims work together. Claims is one of the key functions that Operations interacts with and therefore it is important for you to understand the different technical claims lines of business that we serve.

During the programme, you will:

  • Undertake the responsibilities that sit within Operations and gain an understanding of how they support the Claims function and the wider business, including but not limited to;-

  • Have a working knowledge of the systems used in the London Insurance market and the internal Claims Management systems used within Enstar and their purpose.

  • Understand the lifecycle of a claim and the involvement of Operations from notification through to payment and processing, performing activity to aid understanding.

  • Join in the discovery of new innovative tools that will assist the department with efficiencies in processes.

  • Assist with the analysis and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and Service Level Agreements (SLA's) ensuring that the claims team are adhering.

  • Spend placements with the various areas within the Operations teams - In-house broker, Credit control, Lloyds syndicate and Company market teams.

  • Attendance at various meetings providing exposure to committees and projects across the business.

  • Oversight of both Operational and ICOFR Controls and an understanding of their importance.

  • Handle claims manged within the Operations team which fall within 'Segmentation' rules.

  • Perform Quality Control checks across the various Enstar entities, analysing Claims movements for accuracy.

  • Understand the role of external Audit and the annual audit cycle, participating in process walkthroughs and gathering of evidence.

  • Obtain a basic working knowledge of insurance contracts and processes.

  • About the Programme

    Our Apprenticeship is a four 4-year programme that supports you to achieve an industry recognised Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualification. During your first 2 years on the programme, you will complete the Level 3 Financial Services Administrator Apprenticeship, before progressing on to a Level 4 apprenticeship in years 3 and 4.

    Through a structured on-the-job development programme, you will get the opportunity to put your learning into practice. We will offer workshops to develop the skills you need to set you up for career success and business seminars and short placements to broaden your industry and business knowledge. There will also be the opportunity to network with others on the programme and senior colleagues through project work and events. You will also be supported by your mentor and manager.
