Full Job Description

Cathedral Schools Trust in partnership with Bristol Beacon has been selected as the subject lead for the Music primary curriculum for Oak National Academy. As a result we are responsible for developing and producing high-quality resources for pupils in Years 1 - 6 for use nationally.

We are now looking to recruit a Music Lesson Content Creator to develop our outstanding primary music curriculum into online resources.

The main role of a Lesson Content Creator is to help create lesson resources which showcase best practice in subject and pedagogical expertise in Music. Lesson resources include slide decks, worksheets, quizzes, associated lesson information and recorded video content. All resources must meet the quality guidance requirements of the Cathedral Schools Trust/Bristol Beacon partnership and Oak National Academy.

This is an exciting role for expert curriculum planners looking to work in an online, agile, fast paced environment. The post-holder will be joining an innovative new team that seeks to deliver an outstanding online curriculum, and will be well supported by an experienced leadership team from both the Bristol Beacon and Cathedral Schools Trust.

Bristol Beacon is a music charity, renowned venue and award-winning music education hub who have been writing the primary music curriculum for Bristol schools for the past 8 years. With a commitment to inclusive music education, the team supports specialist and non-specialist music educators, creating musical opportunities for everyone. CST is an academy trust with a music specialism working with both primary and secondary schools. They have a passion for learning within and beyond their classrooms and a deep commitment to music and the creative arts. Further information on CST is available here.

Bristol Beacon and CST have been sharing expertise and collaborating for over 2 years on curriculum development. We are excited to now be developing our partnership in collaboration with Oak Academy to co-create a curriculum which has accessibility and inclusion at its heart. We are also working alongside leading national cultural organisations to utilise their expertise and resources as part of this project.

Oak National Academy was set up in April 2020 as a rapid response to the coronavirus outbreak to provide accessible electronic lessons for all and has become the new national body supporting curriculum. The government is making a significant investment in Oak to create national resources from KS1 to-KS4 in every subject.
