Full Job Description

We're seeking a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our East Young Adult Mental Health team (working with 18-25 year olds) within the Suffolk CFYP service.

Within Suffolk CFYP, we recognise the unique developmental needs of young adults within the 18 - 25 year old age range. We are dedicated to providing a service which is developmentally appropriate, and formulation-driven. We are particularly proud of our co-produced Complex Emotional Needs / Personality Disorder pathway, and the recent introduction of full program DBT across East and West Suffolk YAMHS teams., The role of the 8B Principal Clinical Psychologists within our YAMHS teams is to provide senior clinical leadership within the specified team, with an expectation that 50% of time is spent involved in direct client work, and 50% of the time is spent on other activities, which may include:

  • Providing consultation to indirectly support the delivery of treatment by others.

  • Providing clinical supervision to experienced psychologists and other professionals.

  • Progressing staff development in the team, informing and being informed by, wider strategy.

  • Collaborative and shared leadership of the team with the Clinical Team Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist.

  • Establishing and leading on psychologically safe and informed environment for teams and staff through positive leadership values and behaviours, including: integrity, respect, compassion and curiosity.

  • Providing a key role in team containment, working with professional systems, having difficult conversations, managing team emotions, thinking clinically and systemically simultaneously.

  • Running, contributing to or supporting service development projects in liaison with the Consultant Psychologist or other staff from the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Providing and contributing significantly to the psychological practice of the team with a focus on quality, efficacy and increasing improvement.

  • Working alongside the Consultant Clinical Psychologists for YAMHS across Suffolk and Norfolk in developing clinical pathway intervention packages.
