Full Job Description

The post is funded by a prestigious project granted by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Department for Transport (DfT) entitled 'UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub' bringing together over 80 university, industrial, civic and international organisations as project partners, including shipping companies, ports, equipment and service providers, fuel producers and civic bodies.
In this role you will have the opportunity to undertake leading-edge numerical modelling research in boiling heat transfer, develop your current skills and knowledge base, and collaborate with other world-leading researchers in the field.
You will play a fundamental role in the project as you will be responsible for: Developing and applying chemical process reactions for potential maritime fuels of the future; and determine and validate optimal combustions of these using optical measurement techniques.
In order to be successful in this role, you should have

o Up to date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in emerging fuels
o A degree in Engineering, Physics, or in any other relevant discipline
o Good written and oral communication skills and advanced engines
o An attitude of open and active collaboration.
Research Fellows may also be expected to contribute to the teaching and/or consultancy activities to ensure continuous development of knowledge in the subject area.
