Full Job Description

We are recruiting a UK & Ireland Sales Manager to join our Finchampstead based head office team (hybrid).

The UK & Ireland Sales Manager will be expected to work closely with the Commercial Director and be a key member of the senior team, to develop, implement and execute a sales plan to achieve sustained, profitable growth.

A key aspect of this role will be the ability of the Sales Manager to manage and motivate the sales team by 'leading from the front' and being actively involved and engaged with the customer base. The setting of clear and attainable performance targets, supported by a sound, structured sales management system and subsequent performance management of staff is of critical importance.

The person appointed must also ensure the focus on identifying new business opportunities, winning customer proposals and high levels of customer service. They will manage the sales activities of the organisation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Activities

Sales Plans

Collaborate with the Commercial Director to formulate a detailed sales plan encompassing all facets of sales and marketing for the UK & Ireland region. Implement strategies to enhance sales penetration across key markets, prioritise key account management, and pursue new business opportunities.

Profitable Sales Growth

Take a proactive role in acquiring new business both independently and in support of the team.

People Management

Provide training, coaching, and support to team members to facilitate goal achievement. Conduct joint customer visits to offer guidance and support, while consistently monitoring performance against set targets.

Customer Contact

Maintain effective relationships with existing and potential customers, managing significant key accounts and identifying and securing new opportunities.

Positioning & Market Awareness

Stay abreast of market trends and competitor analysis to inform product positioning and market strategy. Leverage market intelligence to maximise sales and profits.

In addition to the regular face-to-face representation to customers and potential customers at their business locations, the Sales Manager will represent and promote the Company from time to time at exhibitions and shows relating to the relevant market sectors and within industry groups.

Analysis of Requirements and Identification of Solutions

Ensure thorough understanding of customer needs through analysis and engagement, delivering innovative solutions within project/product offerings.

A clear definition of the scope of work to be undertaken must be identified to ensure there is no opportunity for 'scope creep' impacting on the commercial viability of the offer.

Budgets and Forecast

Develop and monitor annual sales plans, aligning with business objectives and providing accurate financial forecasts.

Monitoring and Evaluation of Performance

Analyse individual and team sales performance to refine strategies and tactics, implementing improvement initiatives as needed.

A structured sales management system will need to be implemented including call planning, call reports and sales reports and then this data employed and followed up to maximise sales and profits.

Management Team

Contribute to company strategy and business plans as a member of the senior team, producing monthly sales reports with insightful commentary.

Proposals

Cultivate a pipeline of opportunities aligned with business objectives, collaborating across functions to optimize proposal development and ensure compliance with company standards.

The appointed individual will be responsible for ensuring thorough follow-up on all inquiries and tender invitations, ensuring customer expectations are met in subsequent proposals. They will maintain detailed records of converted orders and lost inquiries, while also ensuring proposal compliance with company approval limits. Moreover, they will oversee the timely and accurate completion of similar tasks by other sales team members, in line with established procedures.

Territory:

Management of the regional sales territory.

  • Proven experience in sales management, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Exceptional time management and organisational abilities

  • Ability to analyse market trends and develop effective sales strategies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software

  • Ability to network and develop long term relations with internal and external business partners.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet demanding timeframes and targets.
