Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher of Resistant Materials with Engineering who makes student learning and progress central to their teaching.

To be successful, you will value continually improving your practice and contribute to the development of other teachers by sharing ideas on best practice. The ability to teach up to KS5 would be beneficial but not essential.

This is a part-time role for 13 hours per week (working Wednesdays and Thursdays).

The Faculty

The Art & Technology team is made up of four full-time and four part-time teachers who teach KS3 across all areas. At KS4 and KS5, the team deliver their specialist subject areas. We have three technicians who help with the day-to-day organising, ordering and preparation of materials and resources. The Art & Technology faculty is accommodated in four specialist Art rooms, four Resistant Materials workshops, one ICT room, one general classroom and a Food area. We work together as a team to give our students the powerful technological and artistic knowledge they need for successful lives. We aim to encourage a love of our diverse specialist areas in our students; we want them to have a positive and successful experience encouraging life skills. We endeavour to use evidence-based pedagogy to achieve the best learning for all our students.

At KS4, we offer a range of qualifications, including AQA GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition, WJEC L1/2 Engineering, the L1/2 Tech Award in Construction & the Built Environment and OCR GCSE Art & Design. At KS5, we offer the BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Engineering and OCR A Level Art & Design.
