We have a new and exciting opportunity at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust for a Team Leader to join our service. This opportunity has arisen due to a re-structure within Therapies Management. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who would like to work within a leadership and operational based role, working closely with clinicians; contributing to the success of our team to optimise patient care.

Prospective candidates are welcome to visit or make contact to discuss further.

This is a career enhancing opportunity for an experienced, suitably qualified, skilled and dynamic SLT. The post holder is required to be an autonomous individual who is able to develop effective professional relationships with SLT colleagues, Therapy and Trust Managers, stakeholders and key MDT members.

The post holder will lead a team of talented Speech and Language Therapists, Therapy Assistants and Admin colleagues. .

This an excellent opportunity for someone who is either new to a team lead role, or already has leadership experience but is interested in continuation of development and the opportunity to work with a broad range clinical service like ours.

Leadership training and development will be encouraged in role.

We are a friendly and ambitious team - the role therefore offer lots of opportunity for service development, networking and creative thinking., You will provide line management to the Clinical Leads and Admin Co-ordinator. Those colleagues provide day to day line management for the other clinical and admin colleagues. As Team Lead you will have oversight and responsibility for all the SLT staff, in conjunction with the Service Lead.

The role involves knowing, supporting and encouraging our staff and services; providing support and supervision, writing and implementing SOP's and policy, completing risk assessments, reviewing standards and working with governance processes, implementing and overseeing audit, dealing with eroster and payroll, liaising with HR and OH, leading and overseeing service developments and communicating information with the team.

This is a varied and exciting role. You will be supported by the Service Lead with regular supervision and business meetings. You will also work closely with the Clinical Leads and provide their supervision. The Service Lead, Team Lead and Clinical Leads work together to support SLT colleagues, facilitate opportunities and development and respond to Trust level, local level and national level demands and challenges.

We have a very experienced SLT leadership team consisting of the Service Lead plus our Clinical Leads who specialise in areas across acute specialisms, head and neck, voice, community specialisms and stroke. The service offers VF and an emerging FEES service. Our service areas include hospitals; Pinderfields and Dewsbury, outpatients and community.

We provide care and support to over a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees in their homes, community settings and across our three hospital sites at Pontefract, Dewsbury and Pinderfields (Wakefield).

Always striving for excellence, we are at the forefront of innovation and research, and we invest in teaching and the development of our workforce.

We live by our values of caring, improving, being respectful and maintaining high standards. We listen and learn because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and receive care.

We value diversity and welcome talent and enthusiasm irrespective of age, disability, neurodivergence, sex, gender identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances including providing unpaid carers support to someone with a health and care need. As ethnic minority groups, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people with a disability/neurodivergence are currently under-represented across the organisation, we encourage applications from members of these groups. We have policies and procedures to ensure all applicants are treated fairly and consistently.

We are proud of our staff networks - who offer valuable guidance and feedback from those with lived experience.

We have a clear vision and you could be part of this! If you share our values and you want to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families and carers, we would love to hear from you.
