Full Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Leaving Care Team Manager to join us at this exciting time for our Leaving Care Service.

You will be in at the start of our improvement journey and will be fully involved with our experienced and supportive management team in shaping and developing our Leaving Care Service to make it the best it can be.

We are fully committed to making sure that our Care Experienced young people receive the support they need to lead fulfilling adults lives. We are ambitious for our young people and we are fully committed to ensuring they all have successful transitions to adulthood.

We are fortunate to have the backing and support from the whole council, all our leaders who take their role as corporate parents seriously and who recognise the absolute importance of all collaborating and working together.

As the Leaving Care Team Manager, you will be responsible for leading your team in a therapeutically informed and relational approach to be ambitious for our young people and tenacious in our efforts to fully engage them all in the individualised support we offer to them. You will work closely with Team Managers in the Children in Care teams.

We are excited about the future and are looking for a leader who has a positive can do attitude, who demonstrates flexibility and resilience and is able to continue to develop the service so that Peterborough Care Experienced young people thrive.

Peterborough City Council is a great place to work and has excellent links with London, other major cities and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. House prices are affordable and moving to this role may offer you the opportunity to live in a developing city and the opportunity to relocate and upsize.

Do you want to join a department lead by a transformational leader, like the new Executive Director of Children and Young People's Services - John Gregg - who joined Peterborough City Council in July 2023, with a remit to take Peterborough on a dramatic improvement journey, as he did previously with Coventry City Council. Now is a great time to come and join us to deliver the best possible service to children, young people and families.

Please evidence on your supporting statement how you meet the essential criteria of the person specification.

· A qualified and registered social worker with experience of managing staff

· Evidence of experience of safeguarding and applying thresholds for intervention

· Your leadership of your team and your engagement with partner agencies is informed by values of collaboration, respect and integrity · You bring a young person centred approach to service delivery.

We are proud to serve the diverse communities of Peterborough and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.
