Full Job Description

To support the business in the areas of Technical Compliance and customer satisfaction. Working with the Factory Manager, Financial Controller and the wider management team to maintain and improve standards and investigate and resolve non-conformance issues. Our previous Technical Manager has changed roles but is also here to support you when needed.

Main Responsibilities

· To support the management team by providing sound technical advice to the business that ensures food safety, legality and quality at all times.

· To oversee technical standards across all sites to ensure that food safety, legality and quality standards are met at all times.

· To assist with managing site audits conducted by customers, statutory bodies, third party audit and internal audits in an efficient and timely manner.

· To keep up to date with any legislative changes relating to food and notify all relevant parties.

· To assist in the development, management, motivation, coaching and leading members of the operational management and teams, ensuring compliance to statutory and company requirements are met at all times.

· To assist in maintaining an effective HACCP system.

· To investigate and resolve complaints and non-conformances, ensuring that they are dealt with in a timely manner.

· To respond to internal audit issues and assist management with ensuring compliance with policies and procedures for the production environment. This includes areas such as traceability, labelling, quality checks and goods in checks.

· To maintain and develop an effective supplier performance system and assist in the approval of new suppliers of ingredients and packaging.

· Where directed to carry out effective on-site audits of suppliers.

· To maintain product specifications for products and work with suppliers to ensure the accuracy and legality of information provided.

· To participate in the development process to provide technical input.

· To develop a strong relationship with customers and be able to present and promote technical excellence.

· To maintain and approve all labels and ensure they comply with current legislation.

· To coordinate product testing through a sampling programme to verify product quality and safety.

General Responsibilities

· Working in accordance with relevant H&S policies and procedures

· Supporting business in general in line with seasonal demands

· Other duties as required from time to time by the business as long as they are within your skill set and competence levels

· Good level of numeracy and literacy

· Experience working in food manufacturing / food processing environment

· HACCP qualification in a manufacturing environment (minimum level 3) (this can be provided be Owtons were nessecary)

· Knowledge of food labelling requirements

· Full, clean driving license
