Full Job Description

The Industry & Infrastructure group is seeking a Technologist to deliver solutions to meet increasingly challenging market demands, and play a key part in advancing our roadmap to deliver 25% of Corporate EBIT by 2030. The group is responsible for:

  • Fuel Additive Development: Developing a diverse range of additives that our customers are prepared to pay for, enhancing conventional fuel properties (such as cold flow, lubricity, combustion efficiency). These market-back solutions will enable fuel marketers to differentiate their products, in applications from automotive diesel to marine fuels.


  • Future-Proof Solutions: Developing forward-thinking additive solutions for future fuels such as biofuels, hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia. These innovations will enable utilisation by sectors that remain resilient to electrification, such as the marine industry.


  • Underpinning Fundamental Understanding: Collaborating closely with Technical Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing Technology, as well as external customers to optimise our fuel additive product portfolio and explore/develop new business opportunities.

  • Innovative and creative approaches to identify opportunities to improve processes and tools to develop our formulation methodologies.

  • Lead projects and contribute to the formulation, development and deployment of next generation fuel additives.

  • Supervise and develop chemists providing colleague mentoring and development coaching.

  • Interface effectively with our internal and external customers

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual, in groups and as part of cross-functional teams, across multiple cultures, on wide portfolio of projects to deliver value to the customer

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and be able to manage and deliver product development projects with agility, time-sensitivity, high energy, and Scale or Fail fast mindset
