Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join The Liaison Diversion (L&D) service as a trainee administrator has become available. The successful applicant willbe requiredto work as a key member of our team whilst also working towards a Business Administrator Level 3 qualification, which is equivalent to two A-level qualifications.

L&D sits as a top priority within the government's criminal justice agenda. The serviceoperatesby referring offenders who are identified with having mental health, learning disabilities, or other vulnerabilities toan appropriate treatmentor support service.The service is high profile with research being conducted to feed into national policy, service development and best practice.

The post holder will be supportedtocompleteaLevel 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. Applicants must meet the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) funding criteriaandeligibility will be checked as part of the pre-employment process. Ifthe applicant does not haveGCSEEnglish & Maths,theapplicantwill be supported to achieve functional English & Maths prior to the apprenticeshipcommencing.

The main responsibilities for this post include:

  • Take minutes at Team & Project Meetings and follow up actions including administration of invitations, recording of apologies, distribution of agendas and room booking/preparation and the organisation of external & internal events.

  • Assistin screening of telephone calls and transferringaccurateinformation to theappropriate clinicians.

  • Tomonitorstationery, uniform and PPE stocks and re-order as necessary (using Unit4ERP online procurement system)

  • To support with changes in shift requirements andabsences andupdating Roster schedules asrequired.

  • Monitor and report on the allocation and usage of Lone Worker Devices

  • Ensuring high quality administrative and reception support for the service

  • To be able to set own priorities and act on own initiative under everyday constraints and demands, liaising with senior administrative staff, the service manager or lead clinician when difficult issuesarise.

  • Liaise with estates and IT departmentsregardingwork repairs/faults and escalating issues asrequired.

  • Willingness to work towards completion of Level 3 Business Administration

  • Must meet the ESFA Apprenticeship Funding Criteria

  • Confident and effective interpersonal and communication skills


  • Theapplicantwillbe supported towork within the department to develop skills, knowledge, and experience in all aspects of administration.

    TheLevel 3 Business Administrationapprenticeship will be completed with "Lifetime Training",whowill have formal progress meeting every 6 - 8 weeks.The meetings willreview and comment upon coursework, and the learner's practical implementation of whatthey'velearned. All learning will take placeon the job and will be supported withonline review meetings. There is no requirement to complete a finalexamination.There may beopportunities for in-person workshops on the course but that is dependent upon cohort sizes in the area. There would be protected time of the equivalent of 1 day per week (20%) dedicated to the completion of the apprenticeship.The apprenticeship will typically take18-months to complete (this is inadditionalto any functional English/Maths requirements).
